As part of our commitment to transparency and sustainability, we conducted our carbon footprint assessment through the Finnish Chamber of Commerce’s Carbon Calculator. This initiative supports Finnish companies in measuring and understanding their Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, in line with global climate reporting standards.
The Finnish Chamber of Commerce launched this tool to help businesses of all sizes integrate climate responsibility into their strategy, identify emissions hotspots, and begin the transition toward lower-carbon operations. It’s a credible, standardized platform built to ensure comparability, integrity, and alignment with Finland’s national climate goals and the EU Green Deal.
For our company, participating in this assessment was a way to hold ourselves accountable and ensure that our sustainability efforts are both measurable and meaningful. Our result just 31.7 tCO₂e across Scope 1 and 2 for our team with in-house manufacturing demonstrates that it is possible to produce high-quality products while maintaining a low operational carbon footprint.
This strong outcome reflects years of investment in renewable electricity, energy efficiency, and responsible logistics. It also positions us as a leader among manufacturing firms proving that climate-conscious operations are not just aspirational, but achievable.
Scope 1 and 2 emissions represent the primary, most direct sources of a company’s carbon footprint, and they are the foundation of our current reporting. Looking ahead, we are expanding our efforts to include Scope 3 emissions, the indirect impacts that occur throughout our value chain, from raw materials to product use and end-of-life. By evaluating all three scopes together, we aim to gain a comprehensive understanding of our environmental impact and how our operations influence society. This holistic view will guide us in making more informed, responsible decisions across our business.
We are continuously working toward a more sustainable future by embracing circular economy principles, expanding our recycling efforts, and minimizing plastic use, with a commitment to reducing it even further. We will let you know about the future results and our steps in the next post.
More information on the scopes:
Scope 1 emissions refer to all direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources that a company owns or controls. This includes emissions from fuel combustion in company-operated boilers, furnaces, or vehicles, as well as potential refrigerant leaks from air conditioning or refrigeration systems. In other words, these are emissions that occur directly on-site or from company-owned assets as part of day-to-day operations.
Scope 2 emissions, on the other hand, are indirect emissions that result from the generation of electricity, steam, heating, or cooling that the company purchases and consumes. Although these emissions occur at the facility where the energy is produced (e.g. a power plant), they are attributed to your company because you are the end user. If your electricity comes from renewable sources such as solar, wind, or certified green energy your Scope 2 emissions are significantly reduced or even zero, depending on the accounting method.
Scope 3 emissions are all indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur outside a company’s direct operations, but as a result of its activities essentially, everything not covered in Scope 1 and 2.
